Summer Beauty Essentials Under £10

Great Scott, it's August tomorrow! We need to go back to June! I just got home for summer and it feels like only days away until Leeds festival, then back to university. Anyone else not ready for summer to end?

This month has been great for my beauty box (we all have a desk drawer or storage box filled with misc products, right?) with Studio 10 sending over their colour correction palette, which I've been using every day and some new Kylie Lip Kits to play with. What I've been really excited to show you are these summer essentials!

Kudos to these guys for getting me through July's mini heatwave, a dry skin spell and bad eyebrow days.

Avon Gentle Aloe Light Cream: £2 now 75p (limited offer?)
I ordered this only a week or two ago while my skin was so dry. I rarely get dry or rough skin on my face but kicking up the dust while moving house and the heatwave made me worse for wear. This cream has SAVED ME.

I apply a blueberry-sized amount at night after removing make-up and in the morning before I put my make-up on. Super light formula, none greasy and it doesn't make me break out. Retailing for 75p right now so I'm going to buy a few to stock up for winter! I'm the squirrel of beauty products hahaha.

I swear that July's tiny heatwave was enough to last the year for me. I love summer in small doses. Invisible deodorant is essential for those days where all you want to do it stick your arms in the air and let the breeze cool you down, even better if your pits smell like a fresh basket of laundry, thanks Dove.
Model Co Eye Define Eye Pencil: £11 (okay so this one isn't under £10, but I got it for £1 in Glamour Magazine this month)
This little crayon (which used to be twice the size) has helped me on my way to slay for the past month. One of my beauty vows for 2016 was to stop wearing winged eyeliner everyday- accomplished! I use this on my upper lash line and smudge outwards for a deep, everyday smoky look. It's so pigmented and creamy that occasionally I'll brush it through my brows for a natural tinted look.
We've all heard of dry shampoo, which sometimes leaves behind the smell of dirty hair or talc despite it being fragranced. Dry shampoo always makes my hair feel a little too dry, so I use this on my second and third day hair to restore that fresh washed scent. This smells incredible, restores shine and feels a little more rehydrated. I've actually received a few compliments on fragrance from people because of it!

Since being obsessed with matte lipsticks my lips have dried out super easily. I apply this before bed and sometimes during the day for rehydration. The best thing about Baby Lips is that they're all SPF. Intense care is SPF 20 to protect lips from sun damage! Always go for lipbalm with SPF in PLEASE. Hahaha. I can't see a point in one without protection!

Ideal Luminous Blush in Russett: £6.50
I've slowly become a blush lover since getting rid of my red hair around a year ago now. 'Russett' was intended for darker skin but this shade of pink was too gorgeous to pass up, and I think it goes well with the browns and pinks I wear on my eyes everyday. This really illuminates my face, stays on all day and it's super pigmented so you only need a little.
I've been using this soft lil thang for my brows and lash line. It glides really smoothly once wet and is the prettiest colour. My old brow and liner brush had gotten a little 'ratty' so it was time to swap it in for this, giving my brows good definition. I've also been using Anastasia Beverly Hills for my brows with this brush which works really well.

The lipliner I'm wearing in the picture above is New Look's Pure Colour Mink Liner with Koko K by Kylie over the top, as well as the blush on my cheeks and moisturiser being the ones featured in this post! A tutorial will be up for this look soon!

P.S, if you want to order the Avon products, use the titled links and click 'direct delivery' at the checkout otherwise your order won't be accepted.

Going Home & Mini Beauty Haul | VLOG

You might have noticed my posts have been slacking a little this week (you can't polish a turd but you can throw a little glitter on it) because I've been prepping so hard for moving out without having a chance to sit down and enjoy a good writing session. I also have two vlogs after this one that I'm yet to publish which kind of sum up those busy days for you.

There are some posts planned for the coming week that I'm excited to share, on; organisation, preparing for third year of university, more beauty reviews, a reflection on the last 200,000 years- I know right, and possibly a brow tutorial as requested on Twitter and Instagram as well as lots of other new content next week! So this is a little bit of a filler post until those go up. A catch up if you will!

Here's my new vlog. On this day I was leaving Preston to come home for summer after moving into our new house (moving vlog to come) and this is actually the first time Alex met my family except for the time Laura and I went to see Coldplay and she stayed over. If we're together for a long time then this is going to be pretty sweet to look back on!

I'm super happy with this vlog and hope you guys like it.

I won't be creating a vlog post for every single video anymore, just 'special' ones so keep checking back on my YouTube channel to stay updated.

What have you been up to lately?

Morning Wellness Routine | Forza

I wish I could say I'm one of those morning yoga-on-the-beach Instagram girls but in all honesty I'm more of an eating-breakfast-with-my-eyes-closed kind of gal. Before September takes a third year dump on my doorstep, I'm trying to get my body and mind ready for the hard work to come!

It's so easy to be so busy that you miss breakfast before class, or struggle to find on-the-go snacks that keep your energy levels quietly buzzing while you work away.  This happens to me too! So when Forza offered to let me try out their new products I said yes!

I believe to live well you've gotta eat a balanced diet and supplement your vitamins, minerals and nutrients where necessary.

Every morning for the last three weeks I've been taking Forza's multivitamin*, made just for us gals, woop! with a tall glass of water (important) to kick start the day. The capsules are easy to swallow, full of vitamins C, K, B and D which contribute to maintaining healthy bones, gums, skin, and a strong immune system.

They're also loaded with Zinc, which helps to maintain hair, nails and compensates for the Zinc I might miss from not eating a meat eaters diet. I've actually noticed that my nails have been in the best condition lately! They used to break a lot and I'm no stranger to the 'double nail', you guys ever get those?

I always, always get freshers flu (damn you university!) so I'm excited to see if for once I won't get sick come September with the boost these lil pills have given me! The proof is in the parties. See here on surviving your first year!

Also in the mornings I love to do a little Pilates, whenever I get the chance or can be bothered. Just simple exercises that use body weight to build up and tone muscles. Doing it in the morning (I'm told) helps contribute to regulating your metabolism throughout the day and always gives me a boost to beat fatigue.

For fatigue and happiness I take one L-Theanine tablet every morning too (you can take up to 3 a day and they naturally boost my mood, so good) and Vitamin D for tiredness.

If I miss breakfast or need a snack that's loaded with protein, I have one of the Forza's stir it slim caramel lattes*. They're so thick and honestly taste amazing, like caramel wafers you buy at coffee shops to go on top of your americano. I found, and my boyfriend found after stealing one for his pre-work breakfast, that they're super filling even half way through.

I wouldn't recommend replacing or skipping meals, ever, but I can see how these help people who can't always get their daily nutrients from food to maintain weight.

The only bad thing I'd say about these is that they're pretty packed with sugar- great if you're drinking one for breakfast as the sugar can burn throughout the day but you might have a sugar crash a few hours later.

The best thing about these products? They're all frickken VEGGIE. They're actually Vegetarian Society Approved which is amazing. I really hope other companies make the change to cruelty free remedies too, there really is no point in not being CF when it's possible to make products like this without cruelty.

Oh, and it would be awfully hypocritical of me to say that I'm happy with my body in my eating disorder recovery post and then go on a diet- so I'd just like to reassure you that I am NOT dieting and never ever will. A gal's gotta maintain somehow, right?

What do you do to stay healthy? Do you take any supplements, are you vegetarian?

Top Travel Inspiration List ๐ŸŒ

It's the time of year where my friends are jetting off to beautiful, cultured countries (or getting off their tidday's in Maga) and while I'm not going anywhere this year there's always a list of a million places I want to be.

This time last year I was craving a city break in New York after watching Breakfast at Tiffany's too many times, but over the last 12 months I've had a more of a hankerin' for South East Asian shorelines and street food.
Here's a list of the places I'd love to be this summer, you should definitely visit if you get the chance!

Halong Bay, Vietnam (above)
I actually don't know a lot about Halong Bay, but definitely believe that not knowing everything about a place is part of the adventure of travel. For one, it looks unreal. Like actually not real. Towering stone stacks and lush emerald waters have me sold. You can take cruises around the bay and while I'm not much of a cruise-goer, I'd take any means of travel if it meant being able to see this wonderful part of the world.

Costa Rica, Central America
Costa Rica is not only rated the happiest place in the world, but it's also home to a freaking huge DOG SANCTUARY. This is the dream guys, if I ever live it I'll die happy. The sanctuary is called 'Land of the Strays' and is home to almost a thousand (by my count) free roaming pups that just want a cuddle. Better yet, they're all up for adoption. I think if I ever went there someone would have to stop me from coming home with an armful of doggies.

There's also the 'Parque Nacional Volcรกn Arenal which is the most gorgeous Volcanic National Park I've ever peeked at (above) which I think became dormant only six years ago. Daaaaay-um. Paradise.

Varanasi, India

Varanasi has been on my list ever since studying Indian art. This home to the Ganges and the 'City of Life' is full of colour, and strong spirituality. If you're lusting after a culture shock then India is definitely the place for you.

It's often not recommended to travel here first if you've never travelled before unless you have a strong mind, but after hearing about seeing the twinkling lights and flowers that are sent out onto the waters every night in their daily (yup, every. single. night) candlelight ceremony Aarti sounds incredible. I wouldn't bathe in the water though, eek.

Ubud, Bali
Do you ever go on Google Street View just to peek at places you want to be? Just me? Okay. This is one of the places I wish it showed more of. Orange temples fill Ubud and I've been told of the welcoming and friendly atmosphere the locals give out.

Another beautiful yet slightly more peaceful place than Varanasi "One of the best ways to explore Ubud is to simply get lost." The lovely Jade I chatted to (see what we talked about here) has been here with her friend Hannah Sykes and it looked incredible!

This doesn't even begin to cover the list of places I have planned in my head. Have you been to any of these places?

Where would you like to visit? Are you planning or have you been travelling? I'd love to hear your stories!

Cutting Ties with Negativity ๐Ÿ‘‹ | Sunday Post #3

It can be the most frustrating thing trying your best to help someone while they continue to not help themselves. Having compassion and understanding is one of the many keys to holding connections with people, but these connections aren't always worth the fight. You choose who and what you surround yourself with which should be people that enhance your wellbeing and mental state, not drag it through the mud.
Being there for your friends in times of need, providing some sort of a comfort umbrella when life gets problematic and being able to have a laugh are some of the things that I think, makes having a friend worthwhile- but there are often times when I find myself drained by being around negativity. Negativity takes it's toll if it resides for a long time- you can't thrive or grow from it.

Toxic relationships come in many forms. Feeling drained or depressed for simply being in certain relationships sucks, and cutting ties can be the most difficult thing at first but sometimes it's agreeable to do this.

If your friends are constantly at you to change something about yourself, or be more like them, or do what they think you should do for the sake of their own happiness then they are not your friends. Putting their own happiness over yours, being manipulative, controlling or dishonest has NO place in a healthy relationship.

Recognising emotional blackmail is important too ("If you hang out with her then I'm not being your friend anymore", "You can't be happy with him because I had him first") You are not responsible for your friends. Making you feel bad for your decisions, as long as your decisions are harmless, is unacceptable.

There might come a time when enough is enough. Cutting ties is about realising when the fight is no longer worth the friendship. Ultimately we need to take care of ourselves before we can heed to others standards. The word selfish has so many nasty connotations we forget it also means thinking of yourself. If you pay more attention to sorting out drama in others lives than your own, what are you left with?

Value the ones who are there for you at the end of the day, the people that support you in return, make you beam sun beams of happiness and despite not liking some decisions you choose to make, help you work out whatever you're going through and vice versa.

It's so easy to lose yourself holding onto negative relationships. You aren't an infinite life source and people who blackmail or cause drama often believe that you can tend to all of their problems without realising you have sh*t of your own to deal with. Why should you have to hang on to anybody who takes it all out on you? The truth is, we aren't obliged. Making connections with people is a privilege that shouldn't be taken for granted. Years of friendship isn't always worth holding onto if you conflict and it's making you feel utterly terrible.

In my opinion, the short term pain of letting go of toxic relationships can be so worth the long term happiness of being drama-free.

Obviously 'a friend in need is a friend indeed', and you should talk things out, helping where you can (never abandon anyone who truly needs you) but my message is that if you're at a wits end and this person no longer listens to you, or kicks off for the sake of it, it's often more healing to move on. Most of the time for both of you.

To grow you need to have light.
Surround yourself with people who bring out the best in you.

What are your thoughts on this? Drop me a comment!

๐ŸŒด Tropical Love, Shell Bomber | #OOTD

Hello lovely readers! While writing this post I realised that my last real #OOTD was last August, and my, how things have changed since then. For starters, I no longer look like flame princess and I've definitely gained a little but as I made clear in this post, I don't care. So that's good. Also, it's likely that there won't be as many posts this week as I'm packing up boxes ready to start a new chapter in September, but I'll talk more about that in a new post. You might be able to expect a new vlog so keep your eyes peeled just incase!

Now that's out of the way, I wanted to show you guys this amazing bomber jacket from New Look that I got a couple of weeks ago.

It's made of Polyester but feels so much like silk or satin that you would never guess. It's been speculated that we're going to have a major heatwave this week (apparently it's going to be 29 degrees today, and I'm moving house, UGHH) so this jacket has been perfect for keeping me cool when I want to cover up. Isn't the embroidery beautiful?
Out of all the shoes that would've looked completely boss with this I went with simple trainers, mainly because on this day Alex and I went on a park walk and Pokรฉmon hunt and it was just so much comfier to wear these than boots.

I'm not usually a sneaker kind of gal but I've also been loving my Iron Maiden converse lately which I'll have to post a picture of soon. They were gifted to me when I was 17(?) and have held up at festivals and days out ever since. Side note; the photo below was taken when I got the giggles (again.). How do fashion bloggers take themselves seriously?

Like I said in this post, I can't wait to dye my hair and get rid of the turquoise, it just isn't 'me' anymore. Also it looks like I have really bad roots in these pictures but they were taken as the sunset reflected off of my hair.

Tropical print is lush and perfect for the upcoming heatwave, I believe the dress was from Boohoo but they don't seem to have it in stock anymore! Having a couple of one-piece outfits in my wardrobe is so essential for the days when I really can't be bothered but still want to look like I've made an effort. Fyi, this dress looks bomb for parties with JC Scullys and Kylie Jenner's 22

Comments have increased too and it means the world to me when you take the time to write even something small, so thank you so much! I've been trying to reply to all of them.

My Current Obsessions ๐Ÿ˜ | Sunday Post #2

When I get obsessed with something, I get obsessed- whether thats over an artist's work, blog, outfit, make-up product or an app, I simply fall in love and cannot let go for at least a month or two. This is a good and a bad thing, lemme' tell ya.

A few days ago after very little persuasion on my boyfriend's half, I downloaded Pokรฉmon Go and now I absolutely positively must catch them all. I've been walking into benches, heading out at midnight just to catch different Pokรฉmon and refreshing the app every few minutes in the hopes that a wild Pikachu will appear. No luck thus far. Though I did get to Level 7 in one day which Alex says is quite impressive (he might just be trying to make me feel good).
I've also been obsessing over this Faux Suede Jacket from Missguided, though how the hell anyone washes suede will forever elude me. The label says that the fabric might get damaged if it gets wet, so going out in the rain without my £2 home bargains umbrella is a no-no but the umbrella has cute clouds and raindrops with faces all over it so who can complain? Perfect for rainy-day Pokรฉmon Go sessions.

You may have also noticed that my boobs have eyes.

This awesome bralet was from a maker on Depop, but I'm sure you can find one similar if you search Google. It fits perfectly, the sewn on patches aren't itchy and like I said in this vlog sometimes it's nice to wear a bra without any underwire. Being in the itty-bitty-titty committee has it's perks (no pun intended).

Also I can't get enough of pink and purple hair. Usually by the time September rolls around I fancy a change but the hairy fairy came early this year and I'm thinking of bleaching away the blue ASAP, or at least before I head back to uni for another year. Its always nice to have a change when entering a new term!

Don't get me wrong- being blue has been super fun, and it was a pain to get to blue from bright red but I'm feeling a little more soft and feminine than I did a few months ago. Plus the now-green ends aren't doing my skin tone many favours. I'll definitely be keeping the dark roots though- maintaining dyed hair is so difficult without them! How do you maintain dyed hair?

I'm thinking something like this. The colour pink has been an obsession lately too as you could probably tell if you've seen my new Instagram
What have you been obsessing over lately?
